Herra Terra’s Kickstarter Journal: Week 4

In this final edition of Herra Terra‘s Kickstarter Journals, the band talks about how their outlook has changed throughout the campaign’s course, and what they’d change if they had to do it all over again. Their last point about where to set your funding level is especially important.

Indie Ambassador TV Herra Terra's Kickstarter Journal Week 4

How has your approach changed, if at all, throughout the course of the campaign?

We feel the approach in our video was a little too serious.  It didn’t represent our true personalities and that is paramount in any situation; it helps define who you are as a band.  People need to feel connected before they give support.

Look back, is there anything you’d change?

Yes, we’d set our goal’s dollar amount lower.  We were asking for too much, given the time of year and our current economic state.  It’s best to set your goal low, with the chance of going over, than setting it high and not getting anything at all.

Guys, whether you had set your goals higher or lower for this Kickstarter, it would not have made any difference in the world.  You got the word out there numerous times.  You gave everyone who “likes” your music an option of donating either $1, $5, $10, etc., and, in return, all those fantastic prices your are willing to give.  Who could pass up those prizes!!!???  And… who could pass up supporting your band, not just money-wise but morally, also??

Your goal is to reach $8001, total.  The actual amount for having your CD professionally done is $10,000. Just like you guys put your “all” into making and playing your music, you’ve given it your best shot with this Kickstarter.  Just chaulk it up to experience but never give up on your dreams.  Maybe it just wasn’t the right time with it being around the Holiday Season but never ever set your goals, or your standards, for that matter, lower, to appease others.  You’ll never get anywhere in life, at that rate.  All it takes are small steps to take you where you need to go in life, to reach your goals, and I think this is a good starting point. You’ve come this far so consider this as just the beginning of those small steps.
