SXSW 2010 : Quick Austin Recap

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

We had a great time at SXSW 2010 and were able to meet, mingle, and mesh with a lot of bands and industry professionals over the last four days. We attended showcases, late night parties, private events, and sponsored 3 events ourselves. We talked to hundreds of bands and were able to perform mini focus groups on the bus to musicians and producers. This entire trip has proved to be beneficial in more ways than one.

We began seeding the name Indie Ambassador while tweaking our tag lines and developing more focused talking points. We heard valuable feedback directly from our future members, while expanding our professional network with potential partners to better benefit the Indie Ambassador service. Above all, we were immersed in a scene most comfortable to us. A scene filled with bands, musicians, agents, managers, producers, members of the press, street performers, tech gurus, and all-around colorful people.

Now as we leave Austin, we look forward to getting back to “basecamp” to continue building the most robust artist development software available armed with the valuable feedback we received while down here. Once back in Boston, we’re adding an additional software developer to our team and will continue getting everything ready to unveil within a few months.

Thank you for your interest in our endeavors and supporting what we are trying to do for the independent music community. We believe very strongly in what we are doing and look forward to assisting musicians, their bands and intermediaries build transparent, sustainable careers in music.

In the next few days we’ll be posting some awesome video and pictures from the trip.    If you didn’t receive an advanced membership card while at SX’, or would like one, please send us an email!

SXSW 2010 : Plans & Day 1 Recap

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I love this place! The sites, the smells, the music, the queso… what more could you want?
We made the trek down in our grease bus, burning through only a half a tank of diesel. After 2067 miles, 50 hours, and a much needed detour through New Orleans, we’re ready to rock!

This post actually comes after our first night out. We arrived in town with just enough time to drop our bags off at the hotel and head to our first event at The Rooftop on Guadalupe Street. Co-presented by Evidence Entertainment, the party included performances by Art Decade and The Dirty Dishes. From there we headed down to 6th street to catch some shows and see old friends. Its amazing how many people you run into on the street that you haven’t seen in days, weeks, and even years. Some of our interns had performances last night as well so we were able to hop from one bar to another, constantly checking out new music.

The rest of the week will be much of the same. We’ll be walking around, parking the bus in various places, and talking to as many musicians as possible. Here is a quick list of places to find us. Please stop by to say hi!

3/17/10 – Most of the day we will be between 6th street and the SoCo district(South Congress). At 2:45PM we’ll be at The Beauty Bar (617 E. 7th Street) for the Bad Rabbits/Karmaloop party and at Midnight we’re catching Via Audio at the Paradise for the Popmasters party.

3/18/10 – Starting the day off right with the PBR Hangover Brunch at Franks between 4th and 5th sometime between 9AM and noon. From there head over to the Austin Museum of Art (823 Congress Ave) for our showcase from 6PM-10PM sponsored by Harpoon Brewery and co-presented with Evidence Entertainment, G-House Management, and P Is For Panda.

3/19/10
– Back down to 6th for the day, back to the Museum of Art from 6PM-10PM, then back to 6th!!

3/20/10 – Hitting the road back to Boston.

Definitely come find us while down here. My cell is: 760-668-3449 and see where we’re parked on facebook and twitter.

Happy St Paddy’s day!
